Last week, 90min reported that United had begun negotiations with Inter for Onana as the likelihood of David de Gea leaving Old Trafford increased.

Now that Marotta has acknowledged United's interest in the 27-year-old, he has emphasised the urgency of making a formal offer.

Manchester United has indicated interest in Onana, but that desire must result in an offer or it is not real, according to Marotta. "After that, careful evaluations by the player and us will take over."

Onana was on Chelsea's radar earlier in the summer but doubts about the price caused the Blues to back out of negotiations, according to 90min, who understands that Inter are seeking a fee of €60m to part ways with him.

United must decide shortly whether to launch a bid for Onana as well as how to handle De Gea's employment situation.

De Gea agreed to a contract extension that would have reduced his compensation by about half, to £200,000 per week, but United later withdrew that offer and tried to persuade the custodian to accept an even bigger paycut.

Since that most recent offer has yet to be accepted, De Gea will soon be a free agent after his contract with United expires on Friday night.

Even if De Gea can be persuaded to stay at Old Trafford, United may still want to sign Onana as manager Erik ten Hag looks for goalkeeping competition of the highest calibre.

The Senegal international is the Blues' second summer addition after signing a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge.

The Senegalese striker is the Blues' second acquisition under new manager Mauricio Pochettino and has committed to a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge.

90 minutes comprehend Villarreal will receive more money from Chelsea than his €35 million release clause, but this will be done in numerous installments.

When Bournemouth and Jackson reached an agreement on a deal in January, Jackson was on the verge of heading to England, but the transfer fell through after he failed a physical.

Jackson became more of a star at Villarreal after this move fell through, scoring nine of his 12 La Liga goals in the final eight games.

The fact that Lukaku rejected a transfer to Saudi Arabia and is adamant that he only wants to play for Inter next season has only made the Serie A team more fond of him.

Chelsea are happy to let Lukaku go this summer, but they have rejected Inter's attempts to obtain another loan agreement, insisting instead that Inter make a firm commitment to buying the striker altogether.

But Inter's poor financial status has proved a roadblock. The Nerazzurri are considering a loan agreement that would contain a commitment to sign Lukaku next summer because they do not currently have the funds to finance a permanent transfer.

At this point, it is believed that a loan with obligations will be reached, but because Inter is planning to sell Marcelo Brozovic to Al Nassr and is in talks with Manchester United about selling keeper Andre Onana, the Italian club may have some extra cash in the coming weeks, which would help in negotiations with Chelsea.

Nicolas Jackson of Senegal joined the Blues from Villarreal on Friday, giving them a second new face of the summer after bolstering their assault with the acquisition of Christopher Nkunku.

Jackson, 22, joined Chelsea for almost €37 million, and according to 90min, the Blues have not yet ruled out signing another high-profile striker, with Napoli's Victor Osimhen at the top of their wish list.

Chelsea also plans to add a new custodian, and at least one new midfielder is anticipated at Stamford Bridge. The top priority is Moises Caicedo of Brighton.

This summer, the Reds sought to strengthen their midfield and quickly signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. Now, Szoboszlai seems likely to follow him out the exit.

The €70 million (£60 million) release clause in Szoboszlai's contract with Leipzig expires at the end of June, and sources have told 90min that Liverpool have reinforced their intention to exercise that provision despite their initial reluctance.

The 22-year-old is now scheduled for a physical with the goal of becoming Liverpool's second summer signing after personal terms with Szoboszlai were also agreed upon.

Szoboszlai's negotiations have not been mixed up with those involving Fabio Carvalho, who earlier this season joined Leipzig on a season-long loan without a purchase option.

Szoboszlai had a standout season for Leipzig last year, scoring ten goals and dishing out 13 assists across all competitions.

Szoboszlai, an offensive midfielder by trade, played on the wing for Leipzig for the bulk of the season, with the majority of his minutes coming on the right side of the team's attack.

Under Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, who was once referred to by Szoboszlai as the "best manager in the world," he is anticipated to return to a midfield position.

"I think Klopp is great. It's incredible how he can motivate his team, Szoboszlai remarked in 2020. "His guys can accomplish anything, even when they have nothing, because they can stand up. He is the world's top manager in my opinion.

Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool has shared how he adapted to his new inverted role during the season's closing stages.

After a weak start to the season, the Reds have won seven straight games to maintain their slim chances of making the Champions League.

Alexander-Arnold remembered how Jurgen Klopp approached him with a plan to bring him into midfield when in possession after Real Madrid knocked them out of the Champions League this season.

The England international revealed in an interview with The Athletic, "We were on the training pitch when the manager brought out the tactics sheet and showed me it.

Defensively, everything was as expected. He then wanted me to be a second number six with the ball. It was stated to me that the goal of it was to enhance our inside play. directing the center. Adding a second player to that team. He had faith in my ability to take the necessary action to make it happen.

"I was happy. I viewed it as a chance. I've never played this position before. I merely wanted to show that I could do it by going out there.

If I'm being completely honest, we couldn't really prepare for it. It was merely a quick workout because it was the day before the game. Particularly for [the 2-2 draw with] Arsenal, we tried to pick it up as we went along.

"It seems right, and it comes naturally to me. I believe I can successfully perform there. I have the power to influence, modify, and rule over games. I would like to continue. I wish to contribute to the team's continued success. We're hoping to conclude this season strong by winning the final two games.

With a 1-0 victory over Arsenal to clinch their spot in the Premier League for the next season, Nottingham Forest also handed Manchester City the championship.

The Gunners appeared absolutely disconnected from beginning to end as a result of Mikel Arteta's odd new system, and Taiwo Awoniyi's first-half goal will go down in history as one of the biggest in recent memory.

Arsenal experienced some anxious moments as a result of Forest's aggressive start, but gradually the Gunners got their feet and began to play some wonderful football. When Gabriel Jesus' header lofted up and nearly missed the roof of the net, Keylor Navas quickly reacted to stop the effort.

But Forest was the one who struck first. Awoniyi was fortunate to deflect Gabriel's attempted clearing back into an open net after Morgan Gibbs-White led an energetic counter and sent the ball through to her.

Arsenal clearly wanted to reply, but their play became sloppy and awkward as Forest fell back to defend their vital points. A win for Forest would have been enough to ensure survival for the hosts and give the Premier League title to Manchester City.

This new style Despite having over 80% of the ball in the first half, Arsenal hardly ever seemed to test Navas before the break.

The similar storyline persisted throughout the second half, but Arsenal did have a chance to change things when Bukayo Saka ran around his defender and shot straight at the relieved Navas.

After yet another Arsenal defensive blunder, Gibbs-White drove into the side netting, and Renan Lodi's attempt fizzed across the goal.

Before the full-time whistle blew to determine the destiny of Forest, Arsenal, and Manchester City, Arsenal continued to limply tap on the door but never really appeared to get inside.

Roberto Firmino has explained why he chose not to extend his Liverpool contract.

When his contract expires this summer, the Brazilian attacker will quit the team, ending an unforgettable eight-year stint on Merseyside.

Firmino has won seven trophies during his stint with the Reds and has earned a reputation as the selfless third striker in Liverpool's frontline, serving as the ideal balance to the clinical Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

However, Firmino gave an explanation of why it's time for him to move on before this weekend's final game at Anfield against Aston Villa.

Unfortunately, it's time, he told the Independent. "This cycle is over, and I realize it's time to leave.

I am quite proud.

"I am extremely pleased of what I have accomplished here with the team, of the things we have accomplished together, and of the wonderful history we have created. It was astounding in every way. We are leaving a lasting impression.

."It is an honor. When asked if he represented what Jurgen Klopp's team stood for, he responded, "That makes me happy, I'm OK with that.

"There are instances when I find the assists to be more satisfying than the goals themselves. It was an honor and a joy for me to play with these two top players, Salah and Mane.

Firmino is expected to recover from a minor injury in time to play one more game at Anfield on Saturday, according to Liverpool.

Despite playing less games than in previous years, Firmino has produced decent figures this time, scoring 11 goals and dishing out five assists in 33 outings for the Reds across all competitions.

According to Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard, not all first-team players have contributed their fair share this year.

The Blues' 2022–23 season will almost certainly end in the bottom half of the Premier League after a disastrous start under Todd Boehly and with Clearlake Capital's ownership almost up.

Popular manager Thomas Tuchel was ousted in September 2022 and replaced by Graham Potter of Brighton. However, Potter struggled to motivate a greatly enlarged team and received his own dismissal in April.

Lampard returned to Chelsea as a caretaker manager until the end of the season, although in his eight games in charge, he has only managed one victory after losing his first six straight.

Lampard returned to Chelsea as a caretaker manager until the end of the season, although in his eight games in charge, he has only managed one victory after losing his first six straight.

Lampard said that he only sees fight and hunger in few of his team players ahead of Sunday's arduous trip to Manchester City.

"I believe there are two perspectives you can take if you're a gamer. Regarding Chelsea's bad season and future chances, he stated, "You can say, don't fancy that because it is going to be too tough, or you can go, no, no, I'm going to show individually in my own way what I can do in a game, to show.

And I can guarantee with certainty that some of the guys will do it now that I've been here. I'm interested in seeing whether the other people want to come. That's how simple it is in terms of performance.

"Whatever their motivation, whether it's to impress a new manager, whether it's to impress another club they might be moving to, if that's what they're doing, then I don't blame them,"

"Because these next three games—three against the top four teams, the first of which is City—are incredibly difficult.

After this weekend's match against Man City, Chelsea will host Newcastle United before visiting Manchester United to finish the season.

According to 90min, Mauricio Pochettino has signed a contract with the Blues to serve as their new permanent head coach.

Following a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, which handed the Premier League championship to Manchester City, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has acknowledged that he needs to do more to boost his players' morale.

With their loss on Saturday, City were crowned champions for the third consecutive year, extinguishing whatever chance the Gunners had of winning a surprise trophy.

Thomas Partey was switched to right-back and Jakub Kiwior was shifted to the left in an unusual Arteta formation, and the manager was eager to accept blame for Arsenal's loss after the game.

"First of all, congratulations to Manchester City on winning the championship, but it is a sad day for us," he remarked. "Now that we have to face the facts, we were guilty of conceding a goal today,"

We must now accept the fact that we handed up a goal today because we lacked the ability to break them down. We could have played for three hours and yet not finished.

"I accept the responsibility since it is mine. Sport is terrific when it's beautiful, and bad when it's not.

"The number of goals we've allowed in recent games has cost us, but we can't place the blame elsewhere. In the past several weeks, we haven't performed as well as a team as we could have.

It's football, folks. It is a very sad day because we have been working for that goal for 11 months and have won so many days. We tried to compete, but we couldn't.

"We must now recover. It hurts a great deal. We have a challenging week ahead of us, so I need to find a way to motivate the guys.

Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale added to BBC Sport's analysis of the match: "The dust won't settle until the summer. Although we are quite dissatisfied in how things turned out, we are proud of how hard we worked.

"One team has defeated Manchester City to win the title in six seasons. However, we made the mistakes on our own, making mistakes in games we ought to have won. We had the opportunity to win those games.

They were battling for their lives, thanks to Forest. We were aware of the kind of game it would be. We just couldn't dissect them. We were penalized during the counterattack because we missed that special moment. We kept trying to push through them, but we were unsuccessful.

The Europa League will be "our competition" for the Reds next season, according to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who has all but admitted defeat in the battle for a Champions League spot.

In the Premier League standings, Klopp's squad had spent the majority of the season between sixth and tenth place, but a run of seven straight victories from mid-April to mid-May, together with Manchester United's lull above them, had Liverpool in the running for a top-four finish.

On Saturday, any lingering aspirations appeared to have been fully destroyed when the Reds were kept to a point by Aston Villa, salvaging a draw with a late equalizer by Roberto Firmino in his final game at Anfield, while United managed to win away at Bournemouth.

Now that United and Newcastle have played their final two games, they each need just one more point to mathematically eliminate Liverpool.

The Europa League will become our competition, Klopp promised BBC Sport. I'm not very spoiled. With all these clubs around us, it's remarkable that we have already earned a spot in the Europa League. That was incredibly challenging, but we managed it, so that's fantastic.

"We were so far away for so long that we couldn't even hear the Champions League. The Europe League is doing great. See what we can accomplish.

Following the recent victory over Leicester earlier this month, Liverpool was already guaranteed a spot in the Europa League at the very least for the upcoming season.

After eight years of Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA team World Cup, and Community Shield victories, it is the only trophy the team hasn't won during Klopp's leadership.

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, insists that David de Gea is still a "top keeper" despite winning the Premier League Golden Glove award for most shutouts this season.

During United's victory over Bournemouth on Saturday, De Gea presided over his 17th league shutout of the year. David Brooks was denied thanks in large part to a particularly good save by De Gea.

The next three best Premier League goalkeepers this season were Alisson (14), Nick Pope (13), and Aaron Ramsdale (both 13), but none of them can currently overtake De Gea.

De Gea has won two Golden Gloves in his career. Under Jose Mourinho, United finished second in the league with 18 clean sheets maintained.

Even still, De Gea has drawn flak for a number of expensive errors this year. In a recent United loss, he contributed to West Ham's goal, and the 32-year-old also had a terrible night when the Red Devils lost to Sevilla in the Europa League.

Following the Bournemouth game, Ten Hag said, "Football is a game of mistakes and, of course, it was a really bad moment [against West Ham]."

BY WAY OF LONDON STADIUM - On Sunday afternoon, West Ham overcame a goal down to defeat Leeds 3-1, bringing Sam Allardyce's team that much closer to the relegation zone.

The Hammers appeared to be suffering from some sort of European hangover as they fell down to Rodrigo's thunderous volley but came back spectacularly to surpass Bournemouth and go up to 14th place in the Premier League standings.

Declan Rice, Jarrod Bowen, and Manuel Lanzini scored goals for West Ham. West Ham, which will play Leicester at King Power Stadium on the last day of the season, may need all three points to avoid relegation.

West Ham made six adjustments from the team that triumphed in Alkmaar.

Pablo Fornals, the game's winner, was one of six changes made by West Ham from the team that prevailed in Alkmaar on Thursday night. Sam Allardyce also recalled Adam Forshaw in place of Sam Greenwood and replaced Junior Firpo, who was suspended, with Pascal Struijk.

Additionally, Allardyce's team got off to a faster start. In the first five minutes, Patrick Bamford twice went in behind Kurt Zouma before Jack Harrison forced Lukasz Fabianski to make the game's first save.

West Ham, who was lethargic throughout the game, slept off after a throw-in as a result of Leeds' pressure, which led to the game's first goal. Unmarked Rodrigo volleyed Weston McKennie's long throw into the box into the top corner as the home defense stood by and watched.

It was the Spaniard's 12th Premier League goal of the campaign for Leeds, but when West Ham awoke from their slumber, the game's momentum quickly turned back in their favor.

Rice had earlier attempted to score from 25 yards out against Joel Robles, but his equalizing goal came just after the half-hour mark thanks to some outstanding teamwork by Bowen and Fornals.

Following their 1-0 victory over Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, Manchester City raised the Premier League trophy.

The victory over Arsenal by Nottingham Forest on Saturday night made City the champions for the third straight year. They win their seventh Premier League championship and total ninth top-flight crown.

After a brief pitch invasion, the City players were welcomed back onto the field and applauded onto the platform one by one before Ilkay Gundogan raised the trophy to the delight of the enthusiastic Etihad crowd.

The celebrations were a little more subdued than they were when City defeated Aston Villa on the last day of the season to win the league. Pep Guardiola will have his hands full with the upcoming Champions League and FA Cup finals.

The game's lone goal was scored by Julian Alvarez as a much-changed City team took an early lead against a struggling Chelsea team. City had just thrashed Real Madrid in Europe midweek.

After Arsenal's loss, Guardiola made several changes to his starting lineup, giving Stefan Ortega, Kalvin Phillips, Rico Lewis, Sergio Gomez, and Cole Palmer among others the chance to play in goal.

Raheem Sterling returned to the Etihad and witnessed his former colleagues' celebrations after having performed well.
